Nail of the day: Kiko nail effects

I spotted Kiko had some new nail colours out this week and i couldn't resit snapping up a few of them, so after infilling my nails at the weekend i tried out 2 of my new purchases.

I love this colour, its a really deep raspberry (red toned pink) and as with most Kiko polishes is perfectly opaque in 2 coats.

This is from the "rock top" shatter range and it is a white gold shimmer (number 615) with a shatter effect, it tones down the darker colour nicely and adds a different touch, i think this would look nicer over a paler or brighter colour. I love that these dry in seconds too, so if your polish is starting to chip or you are getting bored with the colour you can just add a layer of shatter and with a few minutes your good to go.

You can see the full range of nail polishes and buy online at Kiko´s website nail polishes start from less than 2 pound and are excellent quality.

Disclaimer: i am not affiliated with this brand and the products were purchased with my own money

Review: Maybelline Volum express Falsies flared

Ive been using the new maybelline falsies flared for about a week now so i can now give my honest opinion on it, i have used some of the other volum express mascaras in the past and quite liked them, apart from the fact they tend to flake towards the end of the day (this one included). This one has that same smell, really plastic and artificial smelling which i don't mind too much as it disappears once dry.

                                                                    image from google

The mascara itself is just a basic black mascara, i don't think there is anything special about it, it volumises a little bit, doesn't really lengthen but on the plus side it doesn't clump at all. Although this product is marketed as "flared" and is supposed to curl and wing out you outer lashes- it doesn't do this for me at all.

No make-up

One coat of mascara

2 coats of the mascara

The brush is nice and easy to control and i like the pink packaging, it was around 7€ here and i know it is even cheaper than this in the UK so for the price i think it is a good every day mascara but if you are looking for the wow factor this one does not provide it.

Nail of the day:

It's Saturday, it's sunny and spring has certainly sprung so today I chose an on-trend ice cream colour for my nails...

W7 nail polish in 63 sheer mauve - a lovely lilac with a cream finish, opaque in 2 coats

I found it in the beauty section of a British cash and carry close to Benidorm last week and it only cost 1.50€ Bargain!!

Perfect hair

After years of trying to find the perfect solution to my thick, wavy,  frizz-bomb hair i have finally found my perfect hair routine, here it is....

Step 1. Wash and condition with Gliss Asiatic straight shampoo and conditioning treatment which contains keratin to smooth and repair the hair and has completely changed the texture and condition, it smells lovely too. I´m not sure if this is available in the UK or USA but it is easy to find in Spain.

Step 2. John Freida 3 day straight, a few sprays of this followed by a blasting from my hair dryer and my hair is quite straight but still frizzy. Available in Boots and most supermarkets in UK.

Step 3. GHD straighteners. i now remember why i used to love my first pair so much, they are the only ones that seem to keep my hair straight too. I then apply a bit of the John Freida Sheer blonde Gleam cream from mid lengths to ends and that seals the deal.

Finally perfectly straight hair for 3 days

And here is my self inflicted injury from my conical curling wand on my birthday, hopefully it wont scar too badly.

My Birthday!!!

So... on Saturday 10th March i turned 26, i had a nice chilled out day with the boyfriend, he bought me the Marc Jacobs Daisy eau so fresh perfume gift set, which i LOVE... from my parents i got Real Techniques makeup brushes which i have wanted since they came out last year ( i will probably review them soon).

Jay wrote a message in the sand at the beach

I´m not naked, honest!!

We had some lunch at the beach then went to play crazy golf, luckily we were the only people there so nobody got in our way, then we went home and chilled out in the sun before i went to my parents to have a bath and get ready, Most of my going out clothes are stored at their house.

We went out for a meal with my parents at night

A birthday cuddle with princess

The birthday candles were a bit dangerous, i was so concerned about setting fire to my hair that i forgot to make a wish and had to relight them to blow them out again.

Close up of hair and makeup

i kept the look natural and glowy to highlight my slight tan, all eyeshadows were from the urban decay NAKED palette. I used my Babyliss pro conical want to curl my hair and it touched my neck slightly for less than a second and now i have a big burn there which will probably scar... the price we pay for beauty.

5 good things

I haven't been very happy for the last few weeks ( a multitude of little things getting me down), therefore no 5 good things for the last few weeks, so its about time i wrote some:

1. I got my hair done yesterday, highlights and a trim and it was much needed. As my hair is naturally blonde my roots weren't too bad even though it hadn't been touched since before Christmas but i hadn't realised how bad it must have looked until i saw my reflection after, my hair looks a million times better now.

2. The sun is getting hot hot hot here and i am taking full advantage of it, eating my breakfast and lunch outside and reading a book in the sun during my 3 hour siesta (lunch break). My skin is slightly bronzed and glowy and i look and feel much healthier for a bit of warmth again.

3. Its my birthday tomorrow and whilst its a good thing that i have made it to the grand old age of 26 it does mean that i will no longer be 25 and am officially a "grown up". Then again i could always just be "25 again".

4. Birthday cake- i have asked my mum to bake me one because i haven't had a proper birthday cake for years and i really want one this year and i don't eat processed foods so there´s no way i could just go out and buy one, i think homemade always tastes best anyway.

5. Birthday presents.... pretty self explanatory that they are a good thing.

Reasons why...

I will never "make it" as a beauty blogger:

1. Probably the most important reason- living in Spain, most big brand beauty products that are available in say the UK or USA do not even arrive in Spain for at least 6 months, therefore a million reviews have already been done and the product has been forgotten about before i can even get excited that it has arrived here.

2. I don't own a single MAC product, to some people this might seem unbelievable, even more so that i have never even seen a MAC store or counter, although if i had i am sure i would have bought something then.

3. Lack of followers, i guess having a lot of followers proves that yours is a "must read" blog, i obviously do not have many followers, i don't know if anybody actually reads my blog and to be honest i was quite disappointed that this world seems to revolve around people saying "i´ll follow you if you follow me". I want people to read my blog because they enjoy it, not because i had to ask them to follow me (which i wouldn't do).

4.Lack of money, a main issue for a lot of people i´m sure. I earn very little money, i rarely go out for meals etc and i don't drink so i do occasionally treat myself to a few makeup items, but they are very rarely high end brands as i simply cannot afford them as much as i would love to try the things that i see being reviewed on blog and YouTube etc it is just not possible for me.

5. Looks- i know every beauty blogger is not drop dead gorgeous and one persons idea of beautiful is not the same as someones elses, however i do think people tend to take beauty advice from the more beautiful people. I don't consider myself ugly but i know i am not gorgeous and therefore will probably not be taken as seriously.

5. YouTube- i don't believe there are many beauty bloggers that don't also have a YouTube channel and whilst it is a great platform for introducing yourself to the world, sharing your views and drumming up support for your blog it is something that i would not be prepared to do. I do not have the time, equipment or the confidence and if that means my blog gets less readers then that's just the way it is.

will this stop me blogging? of course not, i write this blog for me, as an outlet for my findings and feelings on certain things, i would like for other people to enjoy it too and i think some feedback on blog posts would be gratefully received as it is the interaction within the blogging community that first inspired me to blog in the first place.
